...Your Waiting For A Train....[OPEN] Session-100-005

All alone he turns to stone,
holding his breath not to die.
Terrified of what's inside,
to save his life he crawls like a worm from a bird.
Crawls like a worm from a bird.
Panic. Under duress, it's the first emotion that sets into any brain hard wired for primitive survival, especially those of lower mammals. Most men of science would disagree, they had had at one time before hell broke through the Earth’s crust, piles upon piles of paper theorizing that panic was not what most animals could owe their survival to. Those men wanted to believe that there was order in a world ruled by such agents of chaos like panic, but all they had to do was wait. Once the war broke grown men and women were running around cities all over the world, like rats running up from the bellies of sinking ships, they were caught in a frenzy of panic, the most basic of survival instincts. An emotion that people like Ena, the supernatural agents for the unholy Fallen Ones, took advantage of whenever the opportunity presented itself.

The sound of labored and panicked breathing filled the cavernous and empty space of what had once been Grand Central Station. Running through the ruined space the small group of 4 teenage humans cut a half-hazard line through the dust and debris that littered the once glorious and shining marble flooring. Usually the space was covered in ink black shadows, turning the station into a series of caverns and hiding places that humans took advantage of often. But this time was different, behind the group flames burned bright, lighting the way and casting an eerie dancing glow on a space that hadn’t seen light in a long time. They were frightened to look back and see what fed the flames, the old testament image of Lot’s wife turning into a pillar of salt as she gazed on the burning Sodom and Gomorrah kept their eyes forward. The 4 boys had seen death before, and it wasn’t uncommon to see a burning body littering the streets of the city every now and than, what they were running from was the source of the flames.

Ena’s cold gaze watched from behind the flames, her amber green eyes reflecting the slithering flames as she watched her prey disappear into the blackness. It had been a while since she had this much time on her hands to really toy with a hapless group of humans like the teenagers that had stumbled on her just moments before. They had been playing a game, what game it had been didn’t matter in the elementalist’s eyes, the only thing that mattered is that they had seen her and it hadn’t been planned. In her twisted mind, that was reason enough to die an early death. With the thought and thrill of the chase, a predatory smile found it’s way on the porcelain smooth skin of Ena’s face, and as the smile spread to her eyes, the flames slowly began to die. Ena waited until the flames that had once been roaring and beautiful spires of yellow and orange, were little pillars of blue and occasional licks of yellow to move. As she moved down the steps, the flames crawled along the floor with her, following her and her power like a loyal pet waiting for the command to engulf anything at their master’s will.

With the practiced patience of an experienced hunter, Ena stepped through the littered floor of the station, guided by the low light of the flames that surrounded her and moved with her feet. Listening for the less than subtle sounds of her prey, the elementalist steadily made her way closer to the sounds she still heard from within the darkness. The boys had stopped somewhere close, even with their blood full of adrenaline and primal fear they couldn’t beat exhaustion. Humans that stayed within the city lacked the support of the resistance, most were malnourished and on the brink of starvation, Ena had known that these boys were of that type the moment she saw them. The disappointment she had felt when she saw them wasn’t in their parents, it was regret that these were the ones she had to chase, it would be a quick hunt and now her expectations were proving to be true. As she neared them she could hear their whispered, haggard voices, with each new moment she drew closer, enough to hear their words, Ena paused around the corner, prolonging their fate just for the sake of her amusement…

“I think she’s gone now….” One of the boys said in between gulps for air. There was a few moments pause before another boy’s voice broke the monotony of breathing, and by the way he spoke he was the oldest of the bunch, “She’s probably still up there, she could stay up there for the whole night waiting for us to come out…” Another voice spoke up, one that sounded the youngest of the two, “Or we could take the tunnels. My dad said they’re like a maze, she’d never find us…”

The eldest boy spoke up once more, “And than we’d get lost, and not even our dads could find us. We’d die down there…”

Ena stepped around the corner, at first the boys didn’t even notice her, the flames still burning behind the corner. Hands in the pocket of her trench coat, she moved like a cat through the shadows, stepping on the balls of her feet to keep her boots from making any noise, it wasn’t until she was close enough to smell the sweat of the boys that she stepped on her heel. The sound cracked through the hallway like a whip, and the boys all shot up, their eyes dancing in the darkness, and by the way they froze they could make out her form in the shadows. Still smiling that predatory smile she spoke, a silken strand of words that only drew the boys deeper into her trap, “In a world like this you could die anywhere. Anytime.” The boys were frozen in the darkness like deer in the headlights of an oncoming truck, so Ena continued. “You should have ran outside, at least out there you’d have a greater chance of survival. Especially considering it is raining, the most that would have happened to you is a little cut from falling down and scraping your knee. But now? Now your parents get to die never knowing what happened to you, at least not until the final judgment.”

With those final words, and under the leadership of the eldest boy, the group began to run back down the hall, but it was too little too late. The moment they began to run, the hallway lit up in bright yellow, the flames that had been waiting patiently to be brought into action igniting in a moment at their master’s will. The walls and ceiling were engulfed in flame, the scalding heat bearing down on the boys, a threat that only spurned them on. Ena couldn’t help but laugh a little, at least they were making their final moments amusing. The hellish corridor seemed to breath as the flames grew more intense, licking and dancing behind the boys as they tried their hardest to run away. Bored with the game, Ena’s smile dropped, and with one wave of her arm, the flames rushed at the boys. Pushed by the unholy power she possessed, the flames swirled through the air as if kicked up by the wings of Lucifer himself.

As the light died down the hallway, Ena turned her back on her prey, making her way up to the small camp she had set up inside what had once been a ticket booth inside the main hall of the station. The chorus of the boy’s screams following her the whole way, it wasn’t until she stepped foot into the grand hall that she couldn’t hear the sweet sound of a successful hunt. Even if she could still hear the screams she wouldn’t be listening, as soon as her boot hit the dusted marble, the elementalist realized that she wasn’t alone, there was something else lurking within the shadows of the terminal. Whether or not it was another predator of the apocalypse had yet to be seen, which was why Ena cautiously stepped around the debris the boys had nearly tripped over before. Watching, listening, waiting like the patient predator she was….

...Your Waiting For A Train....[OPEN] Test-1

Lilliths’ reflection was mirrored off the Porsches’ passenger window as it drove through obliterated streets—her emerald colored eyes held a distant glow as she watched the wreckage that littered the streets, her hand moved from under her chin and to her temple where she took a deep breath after massaging it. The rain outside bounced off the sleek exterior as it drover further into the city… and further into the ongoing storm. “Hmph…” her voice almost sounded seductive as she turned from her refection, droping her hand to her lap and looking to the driver; “pull into there” she replied while pointing to the Grand Central Station. “I found them” and her driver would turn to look at her before he pulled into the station. By then thunder loomed over the station and was soon followed by a flash of lighting, and the driver got out of the car, walked around and opened the door for Lillith as she stepped out. He supported an umbrella, protecting her from the rain as they walked up the steps and into the station.

“Stay here” Lillith instructed to her driver and she would walk further into the abandon station—her boots echoed as she traveled, alone and emerald eyes focused on various sounds that occupied the once bustling landmark: rats scurrying across the floor and rafters, birds flapping their wings at the dismay of a sudden intruder and distant, boyish screams. Lillith would then stop and listen to the screaming boy. But it wasn’t long for those screams began to slowly die, and once they did, the woman began to walk once more.

She would remain in the shadows; ungloved hands would slowly caress the pillars she passed them… and then Ena was spotted. The fallen angel knew, from a glance, that the woman wasn’t human. She could tell by the way she carried herself, she didn’t smile, “she’s a predator” Lillith told herself before those emerald eyes turned to the tunnel the woman had left. The smell of burning flesh was first to come to mind when she took another breath—and it reminded her of her visit with Raphael at Coney Island.

“An Elementalist” Lillith whispered and she was suddenly behind Ena… her long fingers would run across the womans’ cheek before she toyed with her hair, “but fire?” And while Lillith remained behind the woman she’d lace one hand around her waist while the other would move Enas’ hand. She lifted it up and examined her finger tips in a playful manner—if Ena was truly linked with her true nature she would sense that Lillith was in fact her superior. “I could only assume it doesn’t do wonders for your nails…” and when her shoulders rolled back, she did the same and walked around Ena to examine her closely.

“You must be the demon the humans keep talking about—the Flame Dancer…” and when Lillith stood before the woman it was easy to see she towered over Ena. “let's see how well you did” and slowly she’d brush pass the supernatural as she walked to the tunnel, “I have to make sure our little snitch is gone…” and her voiced echoed through the tunnel as she slowly begin to disappear into the shadows—the only sound that did follow was her echoing footsteps and lingering voice.

In less than an hour Grand Central Station had turned into a hub of activity in the battle torn city. Even in the eerie silence that had descended on the elementalist and the other being that lurked in the shadows with her, Ena could still hear the echo of the boy’s screams ringing in her mind. The abandoned station had become like a dark and think rainforest, littered with papers, benches and fallen pillars a world apart from the battleground outside the darkness. Inside of this dilapidated landmark, the dangers of the outside world were just as prominent inside, even more so given the more personal setting and the lack of an easy escape. Even practiced hunters such as Ena were on edge inside the shadows that now embraced her. But unlike most other supernaturals, that roamed the streets with chests puffed out and heads held high in unwarranted pride, Ena knew that there was always something more powerful lurking behind the corner. It was that thought that kept her from parading through the hall, flames dancing around her, there was a voice inside of her mind that told her the other being inside of this building was just so.

The moment that the small whisper of a voice passed through her sub-conscious, the air shifted around her, causing Ena to stop where she was, caught in mid-step. But in the moments before Lilith’s fingernails stroked her cheek, she brought her leg back to stand as tall as she could against the possible threat that she could feel standing behind her. In the tense moments that separated the time when Lilith appeared behind Ena and the time when she announced her presence by touching her cheek, the elementalist actually felt like a mouse caught underneath a watchful cat’s paw. She had all she could do to keep from turning around and facing the threat at her back, to face her potential death, but the hand on her cheek kept her still. The sensation of the woman’s fingernails stroking her cheek sent a strange mix of signals through Ena. At first the normally predatory elementalist was almost driven to pull out the lighter her hand was wrapped around and unleash the fury of flame on her apparently friendly attacker. But there was something else that caught her attention with the first touch, the feeling of her nephilim blood responding to the touch of the powerful fallen angel behind her.

In a way knowing that the woman behind her was not just another predator but the top of the food chain and her superior calmed Ena enough to relax in the woman’s snake like grasp. “But fire?” Up until the fallen behind her spoke, Ena didn’t know who she was, but the moment that velvet poison melted into her ear the elementalist finally realized who she was in the presence of. Lilith, the second in command only to Samael, a name that was only whispered amongst nephilim. As her fingers curled through the long auburn hair that Ena always left hanging past her shoulders, her mind was spinning. Did she walk into something bigger than just a group of teenagers playing a game as she had previously expected, or had she just attracted the attention of one of the most powerful beings in the city. Lilith’s arm wrapped around her waist, anchoring Ena to the spot, preventing her from any hope of escape if she needed one, when she felt the woman’s hand go to move her’s, the first thing she did was release her grip on the lighter, a show of trust that only revealed her loyalty in her mind. Ena watched as Lilith examined her hand, almost as if checking to make sure that she was what the smell of burning flesh promised, “I could only assume it doesn’t do wonders for your nails.”

It was with that phrase that Ena could only smile, and not only with amusement but with relief that Lilith was finally unwrapping herself from her snake like grip and stepping around to face her. She responded to Lilith’s quip by showing her the rare smile that shone not only on her face but in her eyes. As she was examined she couldn’t help but feel like a private under a drill sergeant’s critical gaze, and in a few ways it was true. “You must be the demon the humans keep talking about—the Flame Dancer…” Ena’s smile took a darker turn, her eyes alighting with the pleasure of knowing her deeds had caught the attention of at least the second in command, and she couldn’t help but wonder if Samael would recognize her just as readily as his lieutenant did. “let's see how well you did. I have to make sure our little snitch is gone…”

As the fallen angel before her stepped around her and walked into the darkness, Ena’s smile slowly faded away from her face. Without a seconds hesitation she fell into step behind Lilith, she wasn’t going to stay behind as her work was inspected, she wanted to be there to hear the criticism or applause she would receive, this was a proud moment for her. Stepping through the shadows, she brought the lighter out of her pocket and flipped open the silver top and struck the flint inside, after one try the spark caught and brought the small flame to light. Waving a hand over the top of the lighter, the small flame passed from the lighter into her hand, rolling over her fingers like a gold medallion. With a practiced grace she placed the lighter back into the pocket of her trench coat, just a few steps behind Lilith she quickened her pace to catch up to the taller woman, breaking the monotonous tone of their boots on the tiled floor, finally with her voice. “Oh he won’t be talking anymore…The lungs are always the first to burn, the breath in the flames and as the skin burns the fire uses all the oxygen up inside. Quite unpleasant.”

Ena spoke the words as if she was teaching a class of school kids about the fine art of burning people alive, it was her job to cause pain and obviously she was doing well. The small flame in her hand lit the hall, flickering against the wind as they passed through the shadows, the scent of burning flesh guiding them closer and closer to the hallway that had been such a place of fear for the boys. Like a loyal soldier of darkness, Ena followed Lilith closely, interested to hear the opinion of a superior predator in the work that she thought was nothing more than a quick job to rid herself of a nuisance….

Lillith didn’t bother looking over her shoulder to the following supernatural. The woman gave away not only her position but as well as the emotional attachment she had on her kill—not to say that was a bad thing! The young Flame Dancer wanted nothing more than to be recognized by her peers. She wanted to be criticized and commended for her kill— and Lillith was just the one to give that to her… then again, Lillith had always been the hands off type. Nevertheless the fallen angel kept her long strides as she walked down poorly lit tunnel. Enas’ flame caused eerie shadows to creep from the various holes that covered the ceiling… as well as the holes that were in various places across the track.

Eventually her footsteps turned from a ‘thudding’ sound to a ‘crunching’ sound… Lillith was already walking across the corpses that had fallen across the tracks. Dark emerald eyes remained focused on the four former teenagers that were under her feet—suddenly a charred hand shot out and weakly wrapped its’ fingers around the ankle of her boot. Lillith stopped and stared at the boy. He was barely recognizable due to his appearance. When the boy took a breath it sounded hoarse… Ena was right. The lungs were the first to go and the boy was struggling to breath. He was in pain and Lillith knew it. She did however turn slowly—her ankle remaining in the boys grasp as her other foot was slowly lifted and pressed down on the boys’ wrist; causing him to scream… but it too was very inaudible.

“Didn’t your mother ever teach you to keep your hands to yourself?” and very slowly Lillith would lower herself into a crouch. Her weight continued to press down on the boys’ brittle wrist… “Well?” Lillith asked; seeking an answer from the severely burned teenager. She then leaned closer to him—weight shifted and there was a loud ‘crack’ before her boot sank further into the teenagers, now broken, wrist.

He whined silently before opening his mouth to speak… nothing. “Jacob” Lillith replied staring at the boy. Her dark emerald eyes moved directly with his. “How long have you been running?” the former angels’ tone mocked him “do you think what you did, was cute?” and a slender brow would rise before she reached over and slipped her hand into the collar of his shirt. When her hand was pulled back a chain followed and she yanked it back—snapping the chain and taking the medallion. “Where are they?” her words were spoken in a softer manner this time as she stared at the medallion and then the boy once again. He wheezed and Lillith looked away. “Jacob” she replied and slowly she would stand. The woman carried herself away from the boy to a pipe that jutted from the wall to their left. “Pray to your God” and her voice grew—she spoke loudly. “Beg him to spare your life… to end your suffering…” and she wrapped the remains of the chain around the pipe and looked back to the boy one last time. “Have your God save you—like his own son…” and the woman cackled as she turned from the boy. The medallion swayed back and forth like a pendulum and Lillith walked away. Her gaze turned to Ena as they brushed past one another; “let him suffer” she whispered, “if God really cares about his children. He’ll save him.” And then Lillith continued to walk, exciting the tunnel.

The boy remained on the ground… dying and staring at the glowing pendulum in fading light. It was of Jesus on a cross—it began to slow down… and eventually stopped leaving the haunting gaze of Christ on the boy as he begged to be saved.
It was by coincidence that when Lillith and Ena left the tunnel they were able to hear a single gunshot—its’ echo was carried throughout the entire station having it linger longer then necessary. Lillith did turn to where she had originally came from and she waited for any indication of life… nothing but a rat ran across her line of view and the woman turned to retrace her steps. This was an indication that the young supernatural should follow… emerald eyes searched the shadows as she walked and slowly they fell to a body that was sprawled in the middle of Grand Central Station. Once again her boots echoed through the spacey hall as she walked. An annoyed smile eased its way across her lips as she kneeled down and lifted up the hand of her former driver. His veins were traced with silver and a single bullet was settled between his brows. “Liquid silver” was whispered as the hand was dropped. She then lingered over the form… her hands drifting into the various pockets he had before she pulled out a pair of car keys. The umbrella was picked up and tossed behind her—she knew Ena was there and she expecte the girl to catch it. When Lillith stood her eyes turned to the rafters and she listened…

...Your Waiting For A Train....[OPEN] Session-100-005
The small lick of flame danced it’s eternal dance as Ena followed on Lilith’s heels, like a homeless puppy. What little light the flame provided sent the shadows that lurked in the now abandoned tunnels skittering beyond the halo’s reach. Usually the elementalist would have wandered off after the encounter with the Fallen, melting back into the shadows and waiting for the next prey item to wander by and pounce in a flurry of flame. But ever since Uncle had been killed, Ena had grown used to a singular life, one without praise or recognition of her work. She didn’t realize how much she craved recognition until Lilith brought that desire back to the surface of Ena’s dark and charred mind. Even if the Fallen would disappear back into the world beyond the darkness of the station after praising Ena’s sadistic way of life, the elementalist would still have the satisfaction to know that her work was appreciated.

Lost in her thoughts it was the heavy smell of charred flesh that snapped her attention to the moment. As Lilith continued forward into the mass of burnt remains, the elementalist stayed at the mouth of the tunnel, watching from the shadows like a silent and observant lantern. Watching the former angel deal with the dying boy brought back strange memories of her own mother, a woman who Ena now despised for being human, but someone she couldn’t help but miss every once and a while. For years she had envisioned her mother as something close to how Lilith was crushing the boy’s now brittle body beneath her weight and will, Ena’s only link to humanity that tethered her to the world and kept her from being what she needed to become: a monster, a predator. When her true father had killed her mother with just as much ease and lack of care as she had killed these boys mere minutes before, Ena felt truly free but she had become what they wanted her to be since she was born: an animal. Something the elementalist had become without question, and it was animal she still was. It was strange that here in the presence of one of her masters that she was slowly beginning to realize that if she wanted to become a better predator, that to be as close to perfection as her human taint would allow, she would have to allow herself to become slightly human…

Ena’s eyes were locked on the flame dancing in her hand, striving for the attention that her thoughts were lost in. Instead as Lilith dealt with the boy the flame dancer’s own mind was far to distracted to even notice that her loss of focus was causing the small light to slowly wither and die. She had been conditioned to ignore her humanity and her she was thinking and seriously contemplating putting forth all of her effort to become a little more human in hopes it would make her a better hunter. Lilith’s laugh brought back Ena’s mind to the present and the matters that were more pressing than that of her strive to always be a better predator. When she peered up into the shadows to see Lilith turn from the boy towards her, she finally noticed that the flame in her hand was now sputtering out, with a quick flick of her wrist however the flame burned a bright and happy yellow once more. As the fallen stepped by her, Ena’s gaze locked on the boy and even as she was considering ending the pitiful life than and there she was instructed not to, to let him suffer for his sins as anyone so weak should.

Following just as obediently as before, the only pause she took was when the gun shot rang out through the relatively silent stone building. Having made a life of wandering the crumbling and abandoned structures of the city she knew just how well sound can carry in such a structure as this, and as she waited to see what Lilith would do, she couldn’t help but think that the sound was from somewhere deeper within the station. Nonetheless when they were on the move again, Ena was on high alert. A gun wouldn’t harm Lilith in front of her, but it could very well kill Ena and with pitiful ease. As the neared the open lobby of the station, she snuffed the flame out within her hand and plunged both her other hand and the one that had previously held the flame into the pockets of her trench coat. As Lilith stepped closer to the body, Ena slowed her pace and watched her surroundings, looking for anything that seemed even slightly out of place, stepping on to the equal platform that both Lilith and the body of what looked like a servant to her of some sort, the elementalist took the time to exam the body. A clean and practiced hand had delivered the blow, or so it seemed, this wasn’t the work of a rag tag human retaliation, a hunter was a good possibility. And if it was a hunter than they were being watched just as much as Ena was trying to watch her surroundings.

Her quick reflexes were the only reason she caught the umbrella that was tossed to her, and she couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the object that was tossed to her. It was the lack of direction and silence from her master that put Ena even more on edge, her eyes drifted up to the ceiling and the sound of rustling that came from above. It was when she looked up and saw nothing that she realized the cavernous space of the grand hall kept sounds from ever staying in one place, making it even more difficult to pin point the location of any attacker based solely on sound. But when the more distinctive sound of wood crashing came behind her, Ena swung the umbrella around like a sword, spinning in a flurry of brown hair and black trench coat tails. The umbrella connected with the body of a small and lithe human…Or what looked to be human. The attacker instantly hopped back to her feet, pulling out a gun, what Ena could only assume was the same gun the assassin used to kill the driver. The flame dancer could only smirk, dropping the umbrella and stepping down a couple of steps to get down on the assassin’s same level, “I’ve always loved guns. They’re the easiest weapon to master, both from the shooters perspective….” Obviously unnerved by Ena’s lack of concern, the assassin stiffened and pulled the trigger. The sound of the gun was a horrendous sound in the large space, a sound that was louder than what it should have been. As the assassin pulled the trigger, igniting the fires that propelled the bullet forward Ena amplified the explosion, enough to explode the gun and bullets in the assassin’s hand. As the smoke cleared and the ringing in Ena’s ears finally stopped, she couldn’t help but smile and the sounds of pain the woman was making a few feet away, “And from the perspective of someone that can truly appreciate the fire power needed to use such a weapon…”

The flame dancer stepped over to the side, picked up the umbrella and looked up to Lilith waiting for her to say anything, even if it was for the fallen angel to condemn her to death Ena wouldn’t mind. It was guidance she craved, a leader, a purpose, anything for this woman to give to her would be better than standing in the shadows listening to the echoes of a dying woman….

Outside… it continued to rain. The downpour cleaned the streets of loose debris and blood that various battles had caused… in other places large puddles began to form. The debris that littered the streets caused the drainage pipes to build up and eventually stop working. Various homes were being flooded due to build-up in the sewers and the condition the homes were left in—on rainy days like this the city was its’ own water world... Lighting flashed over the gloomy night sky, thunder followed seconds after only to prolong the ongoing storm. It did appear that over time the rainy nights became more and more frequent… they even appeared to be longer than the previous one… And inside the Grand Central Station Lilliths’ dark eyes followed Ena as she slowly turned: lighting flashed the Hunter became the hunted. She watched as Ena toyed with the human—and at once both the gun the hunter held and the night sky roared in anticipation. However, while thunder rolled over the gathering clouds the human fell to the floor… screaming in agony.

Not even a sound left the fallen angels’ lips as she watched Ena… and oddly enough when the woman was in arm’s length Lillith reached over and touched her cheek. It was almost motherly the way Lillith stroked her cheek and she moved her hand under Enas’ chin and lifted her head—when their eyes met Lillith did offer a genuine smile… And it was an odd sight to see those lips actually move into something that resembled just that: something gentle. Her hand immediately left the woman and Lillith walked over to the fallen human. She crouched down to the crying hunter and tilted her head—it was almost birdlike the way she cocked her head; “death is such a beautiful thing” Lillith explained.

“Sarah” the angel said knowingly, “you can’t fight death. You can hide from it. But it will eventually find you…” and Lillith would look at the melted silver that covered the human. “And bringing death upon others isn’t your job… is it Sarah?” And Lillith turned her head so she was looking straight at the woman. Her long dark hair hung over her shoulders as she continued to speak, “your best work is in the back of strangers cars…” and her dark eyes then narrowed, “sinful…” It was not until Lillith stood to her full height that the woman began to mutter, despite her pain, and the former angel looked back to the hunter, known as Sarah, “I’m not going to kill you” and when she turned and began to leave it was Sarah, who with bloody hands pulled a smaller pistol from her boot and shot herself… the sound echoed throughout the open hall. Lillith would then walk passed Ena and to the double doors that led outside. Her green eyes went back to the half-breed and she adjusted the collar of her navy blue jacket.

There were no words to be spoken… nor heard. Ena was a smart girl and Lillith could see that. She waited until the umbrella was open to step outside and despite the difference between the two Lillith managed to stand under the umbrella just fine as the rain droplets splashed against it. She would walk… her expectations were that the woman kept her dry. Lillith would stop by the passenger door before fishing the keys from her pocket and holding them out to Ena—she knew how to drive a Porsche, right?

Somewhere beyond the sound of the human assassin’s dying moans, Ena could make out the sound of the storm that had driven her inside the emptied and disgraced building. The flame dancer had almost forgotten about the storm, she had been engulfed in disposing of the wayward children, and now in pleasing her Fallen master. But now, in the almost silence that had descended over the strange group, the cruel reality of the life that waited outside for her hit with as much brute force as the thunder did to the dilapidated city behind the stone walls. For a few tense moments fear took the place of cool confidence as the realization that the moment she walked out of the stone and into the wet world beyond she would be alone, the silent predator left to fend for herself as she had been doing ever since Uncle’s death. In the few short minutes she had been in the Fallen’s company something within her screamed for more, for the acceptance and guidance from her peers, while another part of her just wanted to stay in Lilith’s shadow just to learn to be a better predator.

All of the fear that had slowly began to sink into Ena’s heart melted away with the cold, yet motherly touch that caressed her cheek. For those few seconds the elementalist was a little girl, enraptured by the loving touch of her mother, a sensation she had been made to forget but in Lilith’s touch all of those memories flooded back in a tsunami of emotion. As the angel lifted her chin to offer Ena that smile, the flame dancer’s eyes lit up with happiness, true and unadulterated it seemed just as strange to see that emotion burning behind her eyes in such circumstances than it was strange to see the motherly smile on the Fallen’s face. Even when Lilith left to toy with the human in her final hours, Ena could only see that smile, the image was burned in the back of her mind. It wasn’t because of the kindness the Fallen had shown to her, no, she had lived most of her life knowing that she was beyond human and should be treated as such. It was because with that oh so human smile all of Ena’s suspicions were confirmed. To be the better hunter you had to be at least somewhat human.

Just as the usual calculating and predatory gaze took over Ena’s eyes, Lilith turned her back on the dying human, causing Ena’s mind to halt. Somewhere deep in her mind she knew she had to follow and so when the angel passed her she did just that, she followed like a loyal lap dog. As they passed the umbrella, the flame dancer bent down and picked it up and resumed her path in Lilith’s shadow, although she couldn’t help but look over her shoulder at the now dead human and smirk in response. The smaller elementalist had to almost run to catch up to Lilith, but thankfully the doors weren’t far away and the angel stopped just short of the rain, expecting Ena to open the umbrella for her. As much as Ena didn’t want to be a servant she knew that if she was going to learn anything more from Lilith she would have to do whatever it was the fallen angel wanted, she had been taught from the beginning that she was only here to serve the Fallen, true, but she had grown accustomed to being the master of her own fate she had begun to like it. Giving no more thought to the subject, and ignoring just how much she hated water, the flame dancer stepped out into the storm, opened the umbrella and waited for Lilith to step under it before leading her out to the sleek black sports car that waited patiently for it’s master’s return. As far as she could tell, Ena had kept her superior dry, and that was the only thing that mattered. When Lilith offered the keys Ena took them, she even went the extra step and opened up the passenger door for her charge without even being told to. Once her new found master was inside the car she closed the umbrella and rushed to the other side, opened the door and got inside. The small car was just as sleek on the inside as it was on the outside and she felt even more like a wet dog in the leather clad interior.

Even though it had been awhile since she had driven a car last, Ena remembered all of the steps needed to turn the car and pop it into gear and in no time the flame dancer was piloting the shadow through the streets, knowing that she would be told where to go and when to do so. She stayed silent as well knowing that if Lilith wanted her to speak she would be told to. Even though in her presence she was nothing more than a servant the part of her that was bred as a Nephilim was happy to be subservient to Lilith of all Fallen especially….

There was a lot that Ena could learn from Lillith... but there was only so much that she was willing to teach the elementalist. Lillith did see potential in the young woman. The angel saw it in the way Ena looked at her. Furthermore, Lillith could sense that the woman was more then just another lost soul left on this deserted wasteland. She had a genuine purpose and whether or not Lillith used her to her true potential was entirely up to the angel herself. What made Ena a priority for the Falen angel was that Lillith had always been one to take advantage of a situation... and Ena just happened to be the particular situation she was interested in. More importantly, it was the way Ena had looked at her that sparked her interest. It was a look that in any other scenario would have disgusted her-- especially it came from a child. Children disgusted her. Nonetheless, It was the look of a child in need... a look that sang nothing more then a motherly tune to the angel and oddly enough Lilith did not pull back from it. She did not shy away from an opportunity to be the supposed mother to the flame dancer-- whereas she had the opportunity to inflict her own beliefs and talents on the flame dancer.

Once the keys were passed over to Ena it was like the torch had been passed; and Ena had moved up on the pedestal. While Ena walked around the car, Lillith sat in the passenger seat and stare at her reflection; emerald eyes stood out compared to her other womanly features and she admired them before the driver door was opened and Ena slipped inside. The inside of the car was already beginning to feel musky... it almost smelt like wet dog and thus it caused Lilliths' nose to scrunch up. She slowly rolled down her own window before leaning over Ena... her eyes followed the other woman closely as her body pressed gently against her and she rolled down elementalists' window. Lillith even buckled Enas seat belt before she sat back and turned to her reflection once more. Her eyes danced across the various signs of the shops that were still inhabited and slowly her mind began to wander.

No words exchanged between the two woman as the car glided down the street. However, Ena would be able to see a small picture in her head. It was of a small map that led directly to Lilliths' home.... It of course was not much compared to Samaels' living arrangements but it suite Lillith perfectly. She had always been fascinated with old-timely homes. They had their own history to speak of--both the terrors and joys.

"How long has your Uncle been gone Ena?" Lillith asked, breaking the silence... it was a little unnerving for some when Lillith so easily slipped into their mind and brought up events in their pasts. She did it so easily and yet, despite her capability she questioned them on it. She wanted them to relive their past events for several reasons... one of which was her own enjoyment. She loved how they began to stutter... blush and even cry when memories such as these were brought up. She was able to fed off their emotion and use it to her advantage. Just like everything else she did.

"Do you miss him?" the angel insisted and she would carefully reach over and tuck a wet strand of hair behind the flame dancers ear as she drove... Lillith would then sigh, "do you believe God took him from you to punish you? Just like your mother?"
